On many ocassions when I do shoots, when you see the end result, you cannot see the make-up very well because of the angle it is taken etc. The above image is a sample of such a shoot. I think Helen looks gorgeous here, and have decided to post it anyway :-)

Make-Up Tip #2: Buy Stephane Marais before it is too late!

I can't believe that the Stephane Marais make-up line is being discontinued!

I have a number of his products in my personal make-up kit, and use the cream foundation in my professional kit. It provides a luminous glow to the skin!!!!

I am shattered!!!! :-)

Make-Up Brushes

I have a variety of brushes in my make-up kit, from the very expensive to the cheap.

With make-up, just because it is expensive it does not necessarily mean that it is good (expensive usually equates with an extensive marketing campaign/branding etc.). I am continuously shopping for make-up and seem to always go back to make-up artist stores/suppliers. Today was no different....

I have been on the search for a dome shaped contour brush for a while. I have seen a few on the Internet that I liked, unfortunately in the U.S. - and I was not keen on paying shipping costs etc... but I have finally found what I have been looking for! Francheville

Normally, you will find Francheville in the artist suppliers store (another good place for make-up brushes!), but you can now find the make-up line of Francheville in S.A. Hair Supplies on the seventh floor of Gowing's building if you are interested. The brushes are good and cheap, and will do the job nicely! I bought my dome shaped contour brush for $16. Now, if I wanted to buy a similar brush at MAC, I would have paid through the roof!!!!

Oh, and no, I am not being paid by Francheville to promote their products. I just could not believe my find and had to share :-)

Make-Up Tip #1: Asian Eyelashes

In order to remind myself to update my weblog :-), I decided to post make-up tips that hopefully everyone will find helpful...

Tip #1:

Asian eyelashes tend to be very straight and difficult to curl. Best to curl them using an eyelash curler (I use Shu Eumura's eyelash curler - bit pricey, but worth the expense).

And this is where the handy little tip is - many mascaras can de-curl eyelashes. The secret is to use waterproof mascaras. The waterproof mascara will keep the curl. The problem with waterproof masacaras is that they can be very drying for eyelashes. Thus, ensure you buy a good one with moisturising properties.

Portrait and Wedding Day Make-Up

Things that you should keep in mind when you are getting your make-up done:

Classic, fresh and natural looks are always best – so you don’t look dated in 10 years time
The make-up is meant to enhance your features, not hide them!
Make-up should be applied with the camera in mind
Bright photographic lights tend to drain away facial colour
A matte finish is better than a shiny look. A matte look will last longer and shininess only helps to accentuate skin problems and wrinkles
Open and accent your eyes with contrasting shade colour. Don't use a lot of colour – again, a classic look is always best so your precious images don’t date
If you are a more mature bride, do not use under eye shadow, especially if you have dark circles under the eyes. Eye shadow under the eyes will reflect a shadow and this must be avoided in photographs
Use a professional make-up artist who understands application of photographic make-up
